EMMA CATHERINE PRETLOW, was born, Emma Catherine Wilson in Lake City, South Carolina
to the late, Ebenezer and Elizabeth Wilson.
She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System.
After high school, she worked in her sister, Rebecca Wilson's Restaurant. There she met, fell in love
and married, the late great, George William Pretlow Jr. She and George cherished one another, and
from this loving union of 65 years, were blessed with 8 beautiful children.
Emma dedicated her life to serving her God, being a doting and loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Emma was such a strong and compassionate woman, who loved her God, her family, her church and
her pastor. She regularly attended Adult Sunday School, Bible Study classes, Vacation Bible School,
was a member of the Prime Age Ministry and was an avid bowler for over 25 years in the Central
Baptist Church Bowling League. She also served diligently on the Helene Nurses Unit and Drama
Ministries at church. Emma was also a world class traveler, and she loved to dress. She enjoyed
sharing God's Word, and one of her favorite sayings was, "When someone gives you a harsh word,
to give them a kind word back". She had a heart of gold. Her love of Christ lead her to call each
of her children every morning to read His Word to them which started their day. Emma especially
loved her grand and great grandchildren, and taught each generation to recite the books of the Bible. If
your child was in her care for at least an hour, they would be able to recite the first 5 books of the
Bible. She shared her love of God with everyone she met.
