May 6, 1919 – February 10, 2022
Emmanuel A. Alexis son of the late Harvey Alexis and Margaret Lewis
was born May 6, 1919, in Grenada and departed this life on February 10
2022.
Emmanuel received his education in Trinidad and Tobago and later
moved to Baltimore, MD in 1969. He began working at Bethlehem
Steel as a pipefitter until his retirement.
In 1969 he met Jurena Amanda Rice and they entered into holy matri-
mony on March 27, 1971. From this union they created a nurturing
environment filled with love and many home delicious, cooked meals.
Emmanuel joined Ebenezer Baptist Church alongside his wife Jurena in
1976. He was a faithful devoted member. He joined the Senior Usher
Board and took great pride in greeting members and serving as a
doorkeeper for the Lord. In the year of 1980, he joined the General
Grand Masonic Congress Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the
United States of America, Lodge #6 as a Freemason.
Emmanuel was preceded in death by his loving wife Jurena, his son
Leroy and brothers Rupert, Henry, and A.C. Alexis.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Joseph Calvin Alexis of
New York and Joe Carl Alexis of Trinidad; two daughters, Marjorie
Rhine of New York and Helen Alexis of Baltimore, MD; two daughters-
in-law, Charmaine Alexis of New York and Marva Alexis of Trinidad;
one son-in-law George Rhine of New York; four sisters-in-law, Rebecca
Deford, Betty Willis, Ellen Lewis and Charlotte Wilson, all of Balti-
more, MD; two brothers-in-law, Sidney Deford and Stephen Lewis of
Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Tony Abdell Vassell and Kevin Mitchell
both of Baltimore, MD, Thomas Alexis and Allison Marcano of New
York and many more; three godchildren, Sinetres Wilson, Sinora Wil-
son and Emund Sampson all of Baltimore, MD; and a host of great-
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
