Mcdaniel
April 20, 1963 – February 26, 2019
Eric James McDaniel was the first child born to Jeane A. McDaniel and the late James
McDaniel. He was born in Manhattan, New York on April 20, 1963. He entered into his
eternal rest on February 26, 2019 at the Gilchrest Hospice Center in Howard County,
Maryland.
Eric attended public school in Baltimore City and graduated from Walbrook Senior High
School in 1983. After graduating school he worked for many years at Phillips Seafood
Restaurants. Then, he proceeded to work at The Marriott Hotel in downtown Baltimore
until his unfortunate back injury which made him retire from working early in life.
Although Eric battle many illness, he always keep busy working odd jobs and helping
others.
In his youth, Eric loved Martial Arts, Music, Cooking and Art. He was a very talented
drawing artist and making items with his handing. In addition, Eric was known as "The
Families Great Protector". He would always ask "Are you Ok?" or 'just let me know if
someone is bothering you"!!! Eric's heart was as big as the universe.
Eric love for the Lord lead him to worship at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore
City, MD for ~_any years.
In their youth, Eric cared for his sister, Jean, once his father passed and mother had to
work to support the family. He would do Jean's hair before school, take her to school,
pick her up from school, and defend her in the sibling quarrel with their brother Ronald.
Eric loved and adored his daughter, Erika. She was his whole world. He was extremely
proud of her and her accomplishments. Erika has stated, "My dad would bear hug me,
kiss me on the cheek, and say "Hey Sweetie!" "Stop Daddy!" was Erika's response to his
affection.
His loving memories are cherished by: his daughter, Erika L. McDaniel, son-in-law,
James Dorsey Sr. and step-daughter (whom he loved and assist in raising since 2 years
old) Danielle Murray. His six grandchildren Anayia, James, Jayen, Justin, Jeremiah,
Jazmine, and one great grandson Kevin Jr.; his sisters, Jean McDaniel-Robinson, Cathe-
rine J. McDaniel, Patsy McDaniel-Boyd, sister Leslie Watson (deceased), sister Shelia
Benjamin (deceased); brothers, Ronald W. McDaniel, James McDaniel, Clyde McDan-
iel, and lastly Timothy McDaniel (deceased). Nieces Alexis, Mikkyo, Ebony, Altanise,
Tianna, Jasmine, Tysha, and Lenny; nephews, Michael, Alexander, Samuel; great neph-
ew Maxwell, and host of other relatives and friends.
