IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eric Lamont
Rufus
June 21, 1977 – January 9, 2022
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
Eric Lamont Rufus, son of the late Wallace Rufus and the late Bethel
Kennedy, entered this life in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 21, 1977. On January
9, 2022, God in his infinite wisdom carried Lamont as he was affectionately
called to his final resting place.
Most of his life, Lamont resided and was raised by his Uncle Bobby (preceded
him in death) and his Aunt Margie who he affectionately called "Ma". He loved
them as his mother and father. He cherished his cousins "Ty" (preceded him in
death) and "Pookie" who he called his brothers and shared a special inseparable
bond. He loved people and embraced a loving relationship with his
family-in-love, "The Kornegays" whom he spent time with.
Lamont received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He
worked for NCIA where he worked various contract jobs that included MTA
and BWI. He was a painter that took pride in going to work and completing his
tasks. He enjoyed talking about his accomplishments from a day's work.
Lamont was so loved and helpful to everyone that came in contact with him. All
you had to do was ask him and he would be right there. He helped everybody,
family and neighbors included. Having a
"servant's heart" is who he was. He
was a free-spirit that was the life of the party, loved to dance and brought fun to
the ease of everyday life.
The quote,
"A good laugh is sunshine in the house" (William Thackeray) truly
fits who he was. He always had a smile on his face, laughter in his heart, a story
to tell and a joke to share with everyone that kept you laughing. The glow of his
smile and the laughter of his voice will surely be missed.
Now as this sunshine glows in heaven, he leaves to cherish many fond
memories:
"Ma" (Margie Rufus) of Baltimore; brotherly-cousin, Alexander
Rufus Jr. (Gloria) of Baltimore; niece, Sierra; great-niece, Xia and great-nephew,
Ezra; goddaughter, Takaiya; four aunts, Daisy McFadden of South Carolina;
Fannie Long, Christine Ray and Elizabeth Rufus all of Baltimore; The
Kornegays; many close bonded cousins, a host of other relatives and friends.
