Eric Wayne Spence Sr. , began his life January 3, 1961; he was the fourth
child of the late Ermille and Edward Spence Sr., born in Sinai Hospital. He
departed this earthly expression Thursday, February 9th, 2017 at Bayview
Medical Center.

Eric was raised in the Sandtown Winchester Community prior to moving the
Garrison Calloway Community. Eric had a charming personality where he
easily made friends and people were drawn to him. His friends nicknamed
him "Purdie" at an early age, for his good looks. He was always inquisitive
as well as curious and liked to associate with knowledgeable individuals. He
had the gift of gab, a good sense of humor and could tell a story; a skill he
probably acquired from his uncle Lloyd. Talking with others, sports, social
gatherings and cooking were some of his pleasures.

Eric was educated primarily in the Baltimore City Public School System and
received his High School Diploma from the State of Maryland. He also
attended Vance- Granville Community College in Butner, North Carolina
where he received certifications in Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigera-
tion. He maintained a 3.4 to. 3.7 GPA and was also on the Dean's list. He
earned certifications in several areas, never had a problem obtaining employ-
ment and worked in many fields. Eric was multi-talented and skilled like his
father and worked well with his hands. Even through his personal challenges,
he had a reputation for being an excellent mentor, and helped many on the
path to sobriety.

Eric loved the Lord from his youth; was baptized and sought to be nearer to
God throughout adulthood. He began his fellowship at Calvary Baptist
Church at an early age where he became a member in 1981, he also attended
Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church, and New Shiloh Baptist Church. His
search is to be closer to God is now over and he has been renewed.

Eric leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Nancy Spence; his son
and daughter, Eric Jr. and Adasha Spence; his newly acquired children,
Jonathan, Delroy and Erica; one brother, Edward Spence Sr. (Bernice); two
sisters, Sandra Murphy (Dennis) and Denise Spence; grandchildren, Justen,
Courtney, and newly acquired grandchildren DaShaun and Danye, and a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
