"Mckinley" Saulsbury
July 17, 1934 – April 19, 2022
Ernest Lee (Mckinley) Saulsbury, son of the late John and
Angie Saulsbury, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 17,
1934. He departed this life on April 19, 2022 after a lengthy
illness.
Ernest I. Saulsbury began his education in the schools of
Baltimore City, Maryland. At a young age, he sparked an
interest in woodwork and loved working in the printshop. His
education continued by attending and graduating from Dunbar
Senior High school. After high school, he enrolled himself at
Hampton University. In the 1970's, he was drafted into the
Army and after serving his time he furthered his education by
attending; The University of Maryland College Park where he
received his Bachelor of Science and The Johns Hopkins
University where he completed his education and received his
Master of Science.
Dr. Saulsbury began his teaching career at Baltimore City
schools; his last teaching years were at Carver Vocational High
School and Douglas High School. While at Douglas High
School, he was the Department Head of the printshop. After
over forty years of service, Dr. Saulsbury retired from the
Baltimore City Department of Education.
Dr. Saulsbury leaves to cherish his memorial, surviving wife
Janie Saulsbury; daughters Deborah Betts and LaNae Whit-
field; friend and mother of surviving daughters Phyllis Cooper;
four grandchildren Janelle Baum, Cierra Ellison, Le'Trese
Cooper and Linwood Whitfield, Jr.; two great-grandchildren
Aaron Opher and Aubree Baum; three son-n-laws; two sisters
Marguerite Pindell and Alice Saulsbury; one brother Paul
Saulsbury; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving
relatives and friends.
