Eugene Edwards, known to most as "Vida Blue" or "Blue", was born on June 30, 1946 in Nash County, North Carolina. He was the son of Clarence Battle and the late Elouise Edwards. Gene entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 7, 2013. Gene received his education in the North Carolina Public School System. As a young adult, Gene moved to Baltimore City where he married the late Constance Edwards. From this union was born a son, the late Victor Eugene Edwards and a daughter, Joy Edwards. Gene was a hard working man. He worked throughout his early childhood and adult years. Gene was always willing to lend a helping hand in the neighborhood and beyond, especially on Koko Lane. Many consider him the "handyman". He was well loved by all because he was caring and had a great heart. Gene leaves too cherish his wonderful memories his daughter Joy Edwards; his two brothers Ernest Lee Edwards Carrie and John A. Edwards "Johnnycake" Brinda of North Carolina; two sisters Caroline Edwards of Washington DC and Marie Green of New York; his uncle John D. Edwards; his aunt Evelyn Edwards; his many nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
