Eugene F. Sykes (Gene) was called into his eternal rest on April 29,

2019, at Autumn Lake Healthcare, Pikesville, Maryland.

Gene was born on June 24, 1940 in Baltimore, MD. He was the

middle child of three born to the late Hazel and Edward Sykes. Both

preceded him in death along with his brother Gerald and Edward

Sykes and Rebecca Sykes the mother of his eight children.

Gene was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He

attended trade school to become a tailor because he had a

passion of tailoring. Employed at the Maryland General Hospital for

a number of years, Gene enjoyed jazz music and going to the firing

range with his friend George. He retired from the Baltimore City

Water Department after 33 years of service.

Gene leaves to mourn: his devoted wife, Mrs. Willien Sykes who he

married on January 9, 2009. His children: Modesto F. Sykes, Antoi-

nette A. Morris, Anthony E. Sykes, Karen T. Hines (Antonio), Pamela

T. Sykes, Gregory G. Sykes, Tracey M. Sykes and Marcus X. Sykes; his

step-children: Mrs. Ella Winchester, Jerry Austin, and Will Austin; 15

grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; his Aunt Elizabeth Taylor

who is 102 years old (New York, NY); and a host of relatives

and friends.
