Obituary

Eva Dell Jenkins, eldest daughter of the William Jackson and Alberta Moore was born in Blounts Creeks, North Carolina on October 24, 1932. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at her home in Baltimore, Maryland. On June 15, 1947, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Mortimer Jenkins of Edward, North Carolina. They were married for 58 years, and to this union, three daughters and one son were born. As a homemaker, Eva, s family was her focus. She and her husband moved their family to Baltimore, MD in 1961. She continued to raise her family , enjoy many of her nieces and nephews and prepared for the arrival of her eight grandchildren. She took pride in caring for her home and family particularly preparing meals "From scratch." Her heart was filled when there was plenty of food on the table for all to enjoy. Eva was baptized at an early age and her faith was strong. In 1994, after various memberships, she joined Liberty Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Clark where she was the church treasurer. She remained a faithful member until her death. Although she was no longer able to physically attend she loved her daily bible reading s as well as viewing her favorite bible study television program each morning. She was grateful for the Missionaries from her sister's church that often came to pray with her. Her husband, Mortimer Jenkins, daughter Millie Smith Pettway and grandson, Aaron L. Jenkins, preceded Eva in death. She is survived by ; her children, Eva Williams Harry Sr. , Martin Jenkins, and Alvania Scott Winfred; seven grandchildren, Harry e. Williams, Jr., Derrick S. Williams, Sr. Shinnequa, Rosalind M. Smith, Craig r. New Kirk, Jr., Angela r. Williams-Jones Anthony, Sr., Rahiah T. Smith and Shawn A. Newkirk; eight great-grandchildren, Dominique Williams, Derrick S. Williams, Jr., Ashley Jones, Matthew Newkirk, Daaron Williams, Anthony Jones Jr., John Williams and Mena Newkirk, as well as one great-great-granddaughter, Jada Pearl Williams. Additionally, Eva has two surviving siblings Mabel Porter Thomas, and Juanita Thompson; one aunt, Vera Lee Tripp; seven-in-law, Virginia Moore, Marie Moore, Joseph Jenkins, Luvinia Foskey, Cherry Jenkins, Jr. Doris, David Jenkins Marion, and Lucy Cropper and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
