Evelyn Almeda Evans, daughter of the late Joseph and Alpharetta M. Sanno, was born on March 1, 1917 in Mt. Holly Springs, Pennsylvania. She departed this life on the eve of November 1, 2007 at Northwest Hospital after a brief illness. She received her education in Cumberland County and Carlisle, PA. Her professions were many, but her favorites were driving a mail truck for the U.S. Army and making bridal veils at a boutique. One of her most treasured moments was dancing with the late Ray Charles at a ball. She met and married Charles Leroy Evans Sr., and from that union were born two children, Patricia Ann and Charles Leroy Jr., all three preceded her in death. Almeda, affectionately known as ''Nanny'' or ''Granny'' to immediate and extended family members, leaves to mourn: her sister, Christine Flecther; nine grandchildren, Sharon Samuel, Vikki DeShields, Gerald Evans, Rebecca Thompson, Candice Cloutier, Scott Evans, Michael Evans, Anthony Washington and the late Juan Evans; daughter-in-law, Susan Evans; son-in-law, Allen Smallwood; seventeen great-grandchildren, thirty-one great-great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
