Evelyn Elaine Parnell, wife of John Wesley Parnell and daughter of the late Francis Reese and Arthur Moses, was born on September 28, 1947 in Sumpter, South Carolina. Her family later moved to Baltimore where she attended Baltimore City Public Schools. In 1967 Evelyn met the love of her life "Sonny." They were married for thirty-two years. During Evelyn's early years she became a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. Evelyn was a very devoted person. She retired this past June after forty years of service with the Department of Housing and Code Enforcement. Evelyn affectionately known for her moves on the dance floor, was given the nickname "Pepper." Evelyn looked forward to her summer vacations where she traveled with eight cousins known as "The Golden Girls." During those fun times she was given another nickname "Tootsie Roll." Evelyn loved old music and family gatherings. Evelyn was loved by all who knew her, she was a soulmate, a buddy, a wife, mother and grandmother. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her family and friends. Evelyn leaves fond memories to cherish; her loving husband, John; three children, Anita, Arndray and Kimberly; stepdaughter, Stacey Jerome; sister Viola;, brother, Samuel; a nephew she lovingly raised as on of her own, Jermaine; seven grandchildren, Rodney and Aundrea who preceded her in death, Tapria, Iesha, Kimberly, Kenneth, Dawneisha; two great-grandchildren, Davon and Taniyah; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
