Evelyn J. Scott
was born in Maryland on August 29, 1927
to Frances Creek. After a short illness, Evelyn was called to rest
and she departed this life to be with the Lord on January 11,2018.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances, son Chico,
grand- daughter Tia and former husband Theodore Scott.
Evelyn was educated in Baltimore Public School System. She
graduated from Coppin Teacher's College in 1961. After graduating,
she taught in Baltimore Public Schools for over 40 years. While teaching
at the Great George G. Kelson, she was the first instructor for the High
Intensity Lab. She adapted scripts and spearheaded several play
productions that included (Hansel and Gretel), (The Wiz and (Purlie).
Teaching has always been her heart, soul and body.
Evelyn was (is) a faithful member of Ames Memorial United Methodist
Church. When she was able, she was very active doing the Lords'
work, such as Lay Speaker, a member of the Senior Choir and lead
person of the hospitality committee. Evelyn was also a member of The
Community Choir of Baltimore.
Her favorite places to dine is at the Double T. Diner and Old Country
Buffet. She also loved the theatre and Broadway plays.
She leaves to cherish her life: grandson Marlon, Scott; former
daughter-in- law, Sylvia Harris; niece, Cassandra Scott-Carroll;
7 great-grandchildren, Sade, Jasmine, Sidney, Aubrey and
Shekita, Tiaira Harris and Charmaine Slade; one great-great
grandson, Malik Paylor; one sister-in-law, Lillian W. Scott;
one brother-in-law, Leonard Scott of Washington State, and
many devoted friends.
