Evette
Moore
October 2, 1956 – May 23, 2026
Evette Moore was born on October 2, 1956, in Blounts Creek, North Carolina, to the late Grover Lee Moore (d. 2004) and Mabel Lee Porter (d. 2020). She peacefully entered eternal rest on May 23, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Evette attended Douglas High School and dedicated many years of service to Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 2016. During her career, she also served the Baltimore City School System as an art teacher. Even after retirement, Evette remained committed to serving others and worked as a laundromat attendant in her community.
A woman of compassion, strength, and generosity, Evette devoted her life to her family, friends, community, and beloved pets. She selflessly cared for her daughter, mother, and stepfather during times of illness, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her caring spirit and unwavering support touched countless lives.
Evette was known for her creativity, many talents, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved serving her community and generously shared her time and kindness with everyone she met. An avid traveler who especially enjoyed cruises, she created cherished memories with family and friends throughout her life.
She was a founding member of Women Encouraging Women and proudly served as a board member of RAC. Her dedication to community service was evident through her involvement in numerous organizations, events, and causes over the years.
One of Evette’s greatest joys was caring for animals, especially stray cats. She lovingly fed, sheltered, and protected them, reflecting the same compassion she showed to all living things. Evette was preceded in death by her son, Darryl R. Harvin, and her sister, Myra Freeman.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Myra Moore; her devoted son, Willie Sanders Jr.; her cherished granddaughters, Onyero Ogala and De‘Ja Sanders: her beloved pet, Brinx; her brothers and sisters, Ulysses, Douglas, Monty, Monica, and Craig; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Her love, kindness, strength, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
