Obituary

FAITH LITTLE has been described as the Matriarch of the family. .. the Queen Mother.

Now, the queen has laid her crown at the feet of Jesus. She is somewhere around God's

Altar...somewhere around God's Throne dressed in a robe so fair.

Faith Little, the daughter of the late George and Eva Vass was born October 3, 1927. She

transitioned from labor to reward on June 17, 2019.

Cecil (as she was called since childhood) was born and raised and educated in Baltimore City

Public Schools. She graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. She often talked about

how she had perfect attendance and skipped a grade in elementary school.

She had married her childhood friend, the late Preston Little.

Cecil worked for the Baltimore City Public Schools before working for the Schmidt Bakery

Family, from which she retired.

As a child she attended Ames A.M.E Church. Cecil was a member of New St. John Baptist

Church for 34 years where under the teachings of Rev. Eugene S. McKinney she received

Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. From that moment she always called on His name and talked

about how good God was to her. For 12 years she was the Mother of the Church. She used

to say she enjoyed being in God's House when her health permitted. Her favorite scripture

was the 23 Psalm, which she often quoted. In her youth, Cecil played baseball, along with

her brother and sisters. She often talked about sliding into l st base. She considered herself

a good Athlete.

Cecil always said she enjoyed being a mother. She thought motherhood to be a great honor.

She loved having a hand in raising and helping to raise grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She loved her Lord and family and life. She made every moment with her children and

grandchildren special. She made every holiday a celebration, because she loved to cook for

her family. In recent years she always reminisced how she enjoyed summertime cookouts and

traveled to New York to see Broadway shows. She also loved to ride ... anywhere, any distance.

When she met Robert, he would drive her and the family many times up and down the

Eastern seaboard. Also, shopping was an enjoyment, whether the mall or the supermarket.

She just wanted to go until her health started to slowly decline.

Cecil always enjoyed lots of humor. She enjoyed laughter and being around people with good

humor. The nurses (at Northwest Hospital) said she was a pleasant patient, who enjoyed a

good laugh. If you knew Cecil, you knew what a fun-loving person she was. She was filled

with love and music, as she often got pleasure from hymns and gospel songs and would sing

around the house. During her final days she was surrounded by daughters, grandchildren,

nieces and nephews, returning that love she so richly gave.

Faith Little (Cecil) was described as an amazing woman, a firebrand who always spoke

words wrapped in wisdom and kindness.

She leaves to celebrate her memory: five daughters, Tracey (Gregory), Diane, Cheryl, Marsha

and Barbara (Lloyd); seven grandchildren, Kim, Lloyd [r., LaKisha, Leslie, Tennille, Virgil, and

Cortney; six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Vass;

nieces and nephews and special friends who called her each week and the ones whom she

considered adopted daughters and sons and a caring church family. Loved ones who preceded

her in death: two sons Jeffrey and Billy, a niece she raised Sharon Vass, companion Robert

Moore, brother Allen Vass, grandson Antoine Allen and great-granddaughter Ja'nya Johnson.
