Obituary

Whereas it pleases our Almighty god to remove fromour midst Florence Lorainne Reid, who was one of seven children born to the late Benjamin and Louis Coles. She was born on March 6, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland. Florence was educated at Booker T. Washington and furthered her education at the Community College of Baltimore where she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. She preceded with higher education at the Unversity of Baltimmore. Florence was baptized at Perkins Ssquare Baptist Church on December 11, 1994. She was employed for nineteen years at the Baltimore City Police Department and retired September 11, 2004. Her photo was included in a newspaper article for receiving the very first 911 emergency telephone center call on March 1, 1985. Florence suddenly departed this life on November 27, 2006. Preceding her in death was her mother Louise Coles; her brother Silas Coles; two sisters, catherine Bumbray and Willie Marie Colberry. Florence leaves in her passing to mourn eight children; Jane, Thomasina, Tonette,Anthony, Thomas, Cyrstal, Marcus and Melanie; two brothers; Will Coles and Thomas coles; one sister Mary francisis Shaw; three sisters-in-law; Barbara Coles, Pam Coles and Louistine coles; two brothers-in-law, Mallie Shaw and Johnnie Bumbray; ten grandchildren; Kimberly Coles, Teresa Tolson, William Tolson, Erica Miller, Troy Hicks-Bey, Thomas Reid, Myra Reid, Chard'e Reid, Amber Reid and Davon Reid; 15 great-grandchildre; two daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law. Also a very special friend; Emerson Bailey; a very special and devoted niece; Sue Shaw; and a hugh host of othe special nieces, nephews and friends. Florence was also know as ''Boo'', ''Bootsie'', ''Boot''' and ''Flo''. she was loved and respected by all; her love showed no boundaries. She had a very giving and caring heart and was always willing to help hr children and others in anyway that she could. She wasn't just a mother to her own children, but she a was a mother to everyone's children. those who knew her-knew that they could call on her advice, counseling, comfort, finances, relationship, laughter and just about anything. She had a great sense of humor that could make ones day.
