Obituary

FLORENCE DELORES WILSON was born on August 2, 1929 in Baltimore, MD, one of seventeen children, to James H. Buckner and Florence Aida Thomas-Buckner. She departed on May 1st after a valiant battle with a lengthy illness. Florence (affectionately known as Lawsy) received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Although she worked for a short time secularly, her hard-working mindset was evident at home. She enjoyed the company of her family and always showed a self-sacrificing spirit and would do anything she could to help her family and others. Lawsy was also known to be fun-loving, independent family-oriented and could be straight forward at times; she spoke her mind, with truthfulness, but never with malice. She raised several generations of grandchildren ... loving but stern, her love was comforting. She had a passion to cook for others, and was well known for her fried chicken, all enjoyed by generations of family. Florence symbolized her dedication to Jehovah and was baptized on April 4, 1976 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She met a young man named Ellerson Wilson and they married in 1976. They went on in their service to Jehovah together for many years, during which time Florence became a regular pioneer, devoting much of her time talking to her children, relatives and others publicly about God's promises and original purpose for everyone. She rarely missed her meetings at the Kingdom Hall and was present for many of the large conventions held by Jehovah's Witnesses. All who knew her, realized her spiritual values and loving ways, none of which will ever be forgotten by family and wonderful, supportive friends. Her love and companionship will be missed by her devoted husband of thirty-seven years, Ellerson Wilson. Lawsy had nine children; the late Sheila Ellis-Gillis, Dwight Ellis and Charlene Ellis preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory are: six children, Gregory R. Buckner, Charles G.Ellis, Sharon A. Ellis, Kevin W. Ellis, Deborah D. Leedsbeys-Bey and Donald H. Ellis; daughters-in-law, Rosalind, Valerie and Deborah Ellis; nieces and nephew, Mildred Jefferson, Donald Buckner [r., Theresa Colney and Stacey Buckner; grandchildren, Towanda Carter (deceased), Bryan, Kevin, Reggie, Charles, Sherwand, Timmeeka Wilkens, Kevin Ellis [r., Kellie, Geraldine, Timmeeka and Ouailen Pettus, Danielle, Dwan, Dominique Ryan, Jordan, Joy; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends; with a special fondness for her great-granddaughter, Sashay Hopson.
