Obituary

Frances Lucille Coles, daughter of the late James and Madeline Washington, was born on May 16, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on April 14, 2020 after a lengthy illness.

She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System.

In 1983, she married her late husband Howard Coles. Two of Frances' siblings, Carl Washington and Gloria Watts as well as her oldest granddaughter Sgt. Tiffany Summers-Egerton preceded her in death.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Northwest Hospital formally known as Baltimore County General Hospital for 28 years.

Frances gave her life to the Lord as a young adult. She was a member of Sharp Street United Memorial Methodist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.

Affectionately known as Frances, Ma, Mary, Grandma, Nonnie, or Great Granny Franny, no matter how you called her name she would answer even if she twisted her beautiful smile with a smirk. She made numerous friends no matter where she went. Frances enjoyed spending time with her friends of the "Secret Pals Club". She loved music and many crafts such as crochet, macramé and ceramic painting. She also had a passion for baking and was often asked to make her delicious Sour Cream Pound Cake.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three children Bruce (Betty) Washington, Glenn (Theresa) Washington, Gail (Johnathan) Diggs; five grandchildren, Lakisha (Jason), Tennell, Ashley, Glenn, Jr. (Maria) and Deontre; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends.
