IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank A.
Leake
January 29, 1959 – November 18, 2018
FRANK ANTHONY LEAKE,
the oldest child of Frank Lee Leake
and Barbara Eleanor Leake, was born on January 29, 1959 in
Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life peacefully on
November 18,2018 and began his eternal rest.
Frankie, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the
Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from
Edmondson High School in 1976. While in high school,
Frank began working at the Marriott Hunt Valley where
he started as a dishwasher and began to develop his culinary
craft. By the time he left there, he was a fully trained, highly
skilled chef. Chef Frank's career spanned over 30 years: he was
an incredibly talented caterer, head chef, private chef, and
carving artist.
His proudest professional accomplishments include: first place
winner in Pikesville Taste of the Town, National Hard Crab Derby,
and Owings Mills Taste of the Town cooking competitions; and
participating in the Fifth Annual Buy Local Cookout Showcase at
the Governor's Mansion. Chef Frank was featured twice on
WBAL-TV's Saturday morning cooking segment, and he
would proudly tell the story of the time when he had the
opportunity to cook for Whoopie Goldberg when she was a guest
at Ethel's Place cabaret-restaurant in Baltimore.
While Frank was best known for his culinary skills, he was also
a music enthusiast. As a teenager, he was part of a singing group,
the Blue Flames. Frank also kept an impressive music collection
of vinyl records. While his personality and demeanor were cool
and low-key, Frank was also a charming jokester, a Dallas Cowboys'
enthusiast, and a loving son, brother, father, husband, uncle,
and Pop-pop.
Preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ulysses Bush, Frank leaves
to cherish his memories: his wife of 27 years, Vickie Leake; four
daughters, Shanita Leake Chase, Candace Leake, Lakisha Terry,
and Amber Jones; two sons-in- law, Dennis Chase and ThomasTerry;
five grandchildren, Sera Chase, Aiyana Lee, David Chase, Akira Lee,
and Daniel Chase; his parents, Barbara and Frank Leake; his
mother-in-law, Virgie Bush; one sister, Daphine "Kittie"
Leake; two sisters-in-law, Lisa Watson (Don Watson), Crissy Watson
(Dennis Watson); one brother-in-law, Craig Calloway; a nephew,
Harvey Brandon Williams; a lifelong friend, Cheryl Jones; a close
friend, Gary Reynolds, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
extended family and friends.
