FranklinJamesLeewasborn on Tuesday, December7,1948,inWhiteStone, Virginia,to thelate Charles Dennis Lee,Sr.and the late DeliaMaeWood Lee.Hewas thethird of seven children.Hisparents later movedtoBaltimore, Marylandin1952.



Franklin contracted the poliovirusasan infant of 2 months. He valiantlyfought for hislife, livingin aniron lung (respirator)for thenext18months.Asthe result o fthepoliovirus,hehadtouse a leg bracetolearnto walk. He wasa brave little toddler,and an evenbraver youngman.Franklin lovedtoread. His mother broughthimcomicbooks which were a real inspirationfor him.He accumulated many first edition comic classicsandrefusedtoallowhisbrothers and sisterstoget nearhisprecious books. However,theymanagedtoreadthemwhenever hewasnothome.



Franklin graduatedfromFrederick DouglassHigh School in 1966.Later, he joinedthestaff at Erickson RetirementCommunities. Heenjoyed laughing and jokingwith theseniors and theyloved laughing andjokingwith him.Franklin hadafantasticworkethic.He wasvery independent, dependable,andconscientious. Franklin would walk four miles everyday to and from work. He received much recognitionforhis dedicationandperseverance.He was alsoemployed at the DixieCup Manufacturing Company and theBaltimoreWashingtonInternationalAirport from where helater retired.



Franklinwasaffectionatelyremembered as Frank andFrankie by familyand friends. Our most memorableeventwasFrank's impersonation of "Santa Claus" during ourfamilyChristmas celebrations. Throughouthislifetime,he wasendeared by somany.



Frank wasa jokesterand alwaysa flirtwith the women. He wouldlovetotravel on his"short trips"tovisitamusements parks, which hethoroughly enjoyed.



Franklinwasa member oftheGreaterGrace WorldOutreach Church wherehe



receivedhissalvationandspiritualguidance. He wasa member of severalchurch



ministries; his favoritewas theChurchFoodPantry wherehehelped packfood bags



andreceive communityguests. Thisministry allowedhim tolaughandjokewith his



fellowchurchmembers and with thepublic.Henever missed adayuntil hebecame ill.



FranklinJamesLee's sunsetwas onTuesday morning,May 26, 2020, aftera prolonged illness.He wasprecededindeathby hisbrother, CharlesDennis Lee, Jr.



Franklin leavestocherishhismemoryonebrother,RobertHenryLee; four sisters:Mary Elizabeth Moseley (Ray), Helen Diane Wallace (Donald), JenniferLee Crenshaw (William), Rosetta Arintha Thompson;5nieces, 6 nephews,and many othercherished relativesand friends.
