Fred Junior Hall was born on July 21, 1948 at Provident Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the beloved son of the late James and Elizabeth Hall. On Wednesday, October 16, 2013, Fred was called home to join his loved ones in heavenly peace. Fred was the second oldest son of James Hall and the first child born to Elizabeth Hall. Fred accepted the Lord at an early age at the Leadenhall Baptist Church in Baltimore. His parents taught him the meaning of family, hard work and pride. Fred attended public schools in west Baltimore, (Henry A. Schroeder Elementary School #128, Public School #176 and Granville T. Woods High School #452). He went on to complete two years of college at the Sojourner Douglas College here in Baltimore. Fred held numerous jobs throughout his life and was last employed as a driver for Progressive Horizons Inc., an organization that provided residential services for mentally disabled adults. He remained employed until he became ill. Fred or Freddie, as his family and neighborhood friends knew him, had a sly sense of humor, always able to "sneak in" one of his wise cracks when you least expected it. As a child, Fred led his siblings, cousins and friends in all kinds of trouble. Mischievous yes, but as we look back on it all, we remember it as "back in the day fun." For the past few years Fred, brother Lionel and cousin Fleetwood, three old dudes with nothing better to do with their time, became known as the "3 Stooges." Always managing to hang out together, cracking jokes on each other, people, places and things, and truly loving and enjoying the life the LORD allowed them to have as retired 60+ year-old "misfits." They had so much fun and love for each other. Fred was a lover of clothes and had an extensive shoe collection. He was always sharp in his combinations, and was a smooth hand-dancer. He knew all the turns (forward and behind the back) to lay on the girls. He was also a lover of music and maintained an extensive collection of sounds that rang out from his apartment. Fred met Viola "Butch" Harris and fathered his only child, Daryl, in 1968. Fred loved, protected, boasted on and cherished his son. He always supported Daryl through his many achievements in high school, especially as a point guard for the Calvert Hall High School basketball team and most importantly, his military commitment of 7 years with the United States Navy. Fred also deeply loved his two granddaughters Naya, Tydasha, his grandson Timothy (TJ), and his daughter-in-law Teresa. The Halls are a small but strong family unit who, through their faith in GOD and love for each other provided the spiritual source of Fred's strength through his periods of pain, recoveries and sacrifice, especially during his illness. One could also say Fred lived a life where the enemy always attempted to keep him under attack. Most recently, during his years of illness and adversity, he stayed strong, while undergoing numerous tests, doctor visits, surgical procedures, hospital stays and dialysis. His inner strength and faith kept him. The enemy always wanted Fred as he wants us all. There were times when it seemed that the enemy would achieve that goal to take Fred's spirit and even his life. BUT GOD... BUT GOD and his mighty Army of Angels always seemed to swoop in as his protector. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Hall and his beloved uncle and aunt, Godparents John and Rena Turner. He is survived by and leaves to mourn: his son Daryl (Theresa); two granddaughters Naya and Tydasha, one grandson, Timothy (TJ): five siblings; Family Patriarch James Donald Hall (Glendale California), Family Matriarch, protector and loving sister Lenora Wilson; loving sisters Patricia Hall (Hollywood, California), Gail Hall-Branch; Lionel Hall (Stacia); Robert Hall, uncle (Greenbush, VA) Mary Hall, aunt (Baltimore, MD), Reverend Juanita Turner, aunt (Avondale, MD), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and one great, great nephew, and a host of friends and loved ones.
