Freddie Marshall Brown (Affectingly known as King) born August 29,1945 in Charlottesville, Virginia to Mable Brown. He was nurtured, loved and raised by the late Ardell Brown Jackson the only Mother he knew. Freddie displayed a natural talent for music and an infectious personality that drew people to him. He attended Dunbar Senior High School, where he built lasting friendships and began shaping the path of excellence, service and artistry that would define his life.
After High School, Freddie proudly answered the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where his bravery and dedicated earned him an Heart along with numerous awards. His service stood as a testament to his courage, loyalty, and deep love for his country.
Music was Freddie's heartbeat. He was an original member of the celebrated singing group First Class, where he found not only creative expression but also a brotherhood that endured throughout his life. Freddie also had the honor of performing with the legendary group The Softones, and the legendary Drifters. Whether singing on stage or reminiscing about those moments, Freddie's passion for music was evident to all. His voice and performances brought joy to audiences near and fare, and his fellow group members remained some of his closest brothers.
Freddie was also a gifted storyteller who captured his remarkable journey in a book (The Day the Robin Sang) about his life, In it's pages, he shared his experiences growing up, serving his country and pursuing his passion for music. His songs, remain a lasting gift to his family, friends, and future generations.
Freddie leaves to mourn his Daughter Stephanie, Sister Angela; Godsister Diane Johnson;adopted Sister Linda Watts, brother Kevin, his First Class brothers Harold, Tony, and Sylvester; 2 grandsons Johnathan and Willie; four nephews Andre (Tonia) Irvin, Kevin (AKA Doozie), Joshua; 2 nieces Lisa and Keonna; and a host of Family and Friends.
