Obituary

Frederick Lee Harris, son of the late William and Lillie Harris, was born on August 24, 1929 in Suffolk, Virginia. He departed this life on April 22, 2008 after a lengthy illness. ''Pat'' or ''Pappy,'' as he was called by family, came to Baltimore at an early age and lived on a farm in Dundalk. He received his education in the Baltimore County Public School System. In 1951 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and honorably discharged in 1959. Frederick met and married Irene Ellis in 1958. They spent forty-eight happy and loving years together. She preceded him in death. Frederick was employed as a truck driver and a taxi driver until he lost his eyesight. Pat's favorite pastime was sitting in his recliner listening to the television and the radio, and on Saturdays he played his oldies CD's. He enjoyed going downtown to Lexington Market to shop when his wife was alive. Pat never complained about anything and he always had something nice to say. Even after he became sick, if you asked him how he felt, he would say ''Great.'' Now at times he could be very stubborn, but he was well-liked by everyone he knew. He leaves to cherish fond memories; his daughter, Yolanda Elliot; two granddaughters, DiJhaee and Kaiya; grandsons DiJhaun; sister Lillie Mae Harris; aunt Josie Staten; two sisters-in-law, Delia Harris and Flossie Riley; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members, including a special niece, Libby who took care of him; and two aides who helped him, Christen Waters and Keyia Brown.
