Obituary

Gamel Bradley Ritch was born on October 29, 1961 in Baltimore, MD. He was welcomed into this world by his proud mother, the late Frieda Demetry Ritch-Gibson (9/18/37-1/18/1996). He departed this world on July 4th, 2017.

As a child, Garnel exhibited a deep love for family. He was always soft spoken, sometimes throwing in a silly joke, and always wearing a friendly and inviting smile. He always showed up for family events, and his love of eating was the biggest reason why, with him passing up nothing when it came to food.

From childhood to adulthood, Gamel never stopped having childlike ways, from his childish remarks and jokes to his love of life through his playfulness and laughter. His mannerism was always sweet, soft and kind.

Gamel had a great love for sports, and his favorite teams! For basketball, it was the "San Antonio Spurs", for football, the "San Francisco 4gers" and the "Baltimore Ravens", and for baseball it was the "Baltimore Orioles". He had his collector items of these teams he loved so much. Items such as; jerseys, magnets, decals, ticket stubs from attending games, and so much more. Gamel also had a love for bicycle riding, music and cars. Gamel formed a bicycle club and a band in his early years. Later in life, because of his love for cars, he would test dri ve the cars he liked and wanted from time to time, but we all know that the car he loved the most was his Nissan Maxima! No matter the weather, his Max was always shiny and spotless like new.

Gamel was a product of Baltimore City Public Schools. He graduated in 1979 from Frederick Douglass High School. Upon his completion of school, Gamel worked for and retired from The Baltimore City Sanitation Department. For the last 12 years, he had worked for UPS as a parcel delivery driver. It was there he made a career foundation leading to great relationships with co-workers, staff members and customers. He also received numerous awards and recognition from his co-workers and the businesses he delivered to. Gamel was quoted as "one of the best drivers!"

Gamel's Christian journey began at an early age. He joined and was baptized at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Baltimore.

There are some things which God permits us to carry into the next world. These things are the equivalents of the gifts we receive in our lives here on Earth in the form of the opportunities and the talents He has given us. Among the many gifts Gamel has carried with him are: His faith in God; A beautiful, caring and gentle spirit; His love for family and friends; The highest esteem and love from his family.

Preceded in death by his mother, Frieda Demetry Ritch-Gibson, Gamel leaves to cherish his memory: two beautiful daughters, Charnel Brandi Ritch and Charma- gne Ashley Ritch; four amazing grandchildren, Camren and Kellie Bazemore, Kamari Nickens, and Jordan Herlich with a fifth grandchild due in August, Peyton Ritch; the mother of his two daughter's and first love of his life, Charlene Baylor; an ex-wife, Deborah Ritch and son, Christopher Ringold; aunts, Saundra Dillard and Claudine Miller; uncles, Roland Williams and Deacon Richard Williams; and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends.
