Obituary

Gary Ricardo Gant, affectionally known as Rick was born on February 22, 1968 in Baltimore Maryland to Marcella Mitchell-Thompson and the late Gary Gant. Gary departed this life on August 9, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Rick received his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools, he graduated from Milford Mills Academy where he was popular football star. He later received a bachelor's degree from Baltimore City Com- munity College. After college he joined the United States Army and was honorable discharged in July of 1991. As you know Rick was a jack of all trades; from mechanical to computers to home improvement, you name it he could do it. He was a licensed welding were he special- ized and designed railing and window guards, which lend to him to becoming an entrepreneur and later beginning a business of his own named "Gantron Steal Fabrications". He also enjoyed writing raps and making beats, you couldn't tell him he wasn't an artist; anyone who knew him knows his all time favorite rapper is DMX. Rick even had a passion for motorcycles and became very popular with the motorcycle shop "Ty Cycles". Rick adored being a grandfather to his beloved grandchildren, Lil Donell, Dial ya and Karon; who affectionally called him "Pop-Pop". On his worst days all he needed was a call and/or visit from them and it would instantly brighten his day. They were his pride and joy ... the Best Pop-Pop in the World is what he meant to them. He was "Uncle Rick" to his many nieces and nephews and anytime he was around you could count on a story backed up with laughter. He was always a phone call away, he was loved and adored by many. Threw the years he was comforted with an abundance of love and support from family and friends as he battled a fight many struggle to do. Gary leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife Doreen Gant; mother Marcella Thompson; father the late Gary Gant; brothers: Robert Gant, Eric Walker; children: Donell Rogers and Keisha Gant; grandchildren: Donell Jr., Dialya and Karon; aunts: Barbara and Linda; sister-in-Iaws: Nancy, Janice, Charlotte, Sandra, Floria, Yvonne and Melissa; brother-in-Iaws: Frankie and Murrell; and a host of other relatives, friends and two special friends David and Ty.
