Obituary

Gaylord Sharp, was born on November 19,1936 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina and left this life on August 3, 2014. He was one of seven to the late Luther and Susie B. Sharp. Gaylord attended The public schools in Elizabeth City North Carolina. He was raised in a Christian home where he followed his upbringing and united with The Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Weksiville, North Carolina which he attended faithfully. In 1954 he enlisted in The United States Air Force and was honorably discharge in 1957. Upon moving to Baltimore, in 1960 he was a Driver for Yellow Cab Company for many years. Then employed by Davidson Transferred and Storage Company as a CDL Truck Driver for 12 years until going out of business, and he later became a CDL Truck Driver for Yellow Freight Trucking System where he was the First African American to be employed and stayed there for 12 years where he retired. He also was a business man where he purchased houses by restoring them to keep and to sell. In 1958, hefound the love of his life Pauline Carter getting off the MTA Bus near York Rd. He waited and saw her again and again. On March 17, 1961 he joined Pauline Carter in Holy Matrimony. From this union they had five children the four daughters he tried to keep a watch- ful eye on. He was a loving husband, protector & caring father who work hard to be a good responsible provider for his family. He loved people and a good inviting conversation. He will surely be missed. His only son pro- ceeded him. in death Christopher Sharp. He leaves to treasure wonderful memories: his loving wife Pauline Sharp, and four daughters Christine Sharp, Olivia Sharp Buster (William), Shei- la Johnson (Myron), and Linda Moore (Harold); two brothers, David Sharp and Luther Sharp Jr. proceeded him in death of North Carolina, and four sisters, Bernice Jackson which proceeded him in death, Burnetta Floyd all from Baltimore, Shirley Williams from Virginia and Sylivia Da- vis of North Carolina, one sister-in-law, Annie Mackall of Baltimore, four brothers-in-law John and Harry which proceeded him in death Tozzie and Donnie of Baltimore, 8 grand children, 3 great-grand children and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
