IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geneva
Wade
December 31, 1915 – October 1, 2017
Geneva peacefully departed this earthly life on October 1, 2017 and entered her
Heavenly home.
On December 31,1915, the late George and the late Mary Ella Burrell was blessed
with their sixth child in Winnsboro, South Carolina.
Geneva attended the Fairfield County Public School system in Winnsboro, South
Carolina. She was raised in a Christian home and at a young age joined Shiloh
A.M.E Church in Fairfield County, South Carolina. She later joined Greater New
Hope Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was a devoted Usher for
many years.
At the age of 15, Geneva moved to Washington, D.C. to help her brother Haywood
with his children. But when the children grew older, she relocated to Baltimore,
MD. She loved the city living and the bright lights.
In 1936, she married the love of her life, Samuel T. Wade, and from this union
one son, Samuel Wade, Jr., was born. She was employed briefly at Regal
Launch')'. However, for most of her life she was a housewife where she enjoyed
cooking, baking, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
As she grew older, she enjoyed hosting small gatherings for her great
granddaughter, Tiffany and her friends. She also enjoyed spending time with the
late Ms. Nelly, sitting on the porch with her neighbors at 1209 Wildwood Pkwy
and spending time with her grandsons, Itsy and the late Darryl.
For a long time, she suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, which took over her mind
but never her love for Jesus Christ. She would sing and usher around the house.
Her devoted son was very faithful and committed to ensure his mother always
had the best care.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted son, Samuel Wade Jr; grandchildren:
Samuel G Wade (Esther), Courtney Wade, Dawn Williams, Patricia Horten,
Valerie Richardson (David); great grandchildren: Daneen Grooms (Olusola),
Dewarren Richardson, Corey Richardson, Toya Horten, Tiffany Austin (Marlo);
one sister, Mary Ella Madden; one brother, Moses Burrell; a host of great-great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She also
leaves a devoted goddaughter, Barbara Truitt.
