GENOVA S. BOMAR was born on May 25,1918 in Spartanburg,
South Carolina. She was the only child born to the late Willie
and Fannie Suber.
Genova was educated in the public schools at Spartanburg,
South Carolina. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1947
to marry her childhood sweet heart.
Genova was a sweet, kind, and loving woman filled with
Godly wisdom, and she loved the Lord.
Genova, affectionately known as Mama, Granny, Sunshine,
and Dimples, was married to the late Deacon Curtis C. Bomar,
Sr. and from this union six children were born.
On June 6, 1969, Genova accepted the Lord as her personal
Savior and was baptized at the Fountain Baptist Church by ,
the late Rev. Dennis Barrow. She remained a faithful and
dedicated member of Fountain until death.
She rendered faithful service to the church as a dedicated
member of the Sunday School, Bible Class, Wednesday
.evening Prayer Service, and the Deaconess Ministry. In 2008,
she received a plaque honoring her as Deaconess Emeritus.
To support the cause of freedom and equality for African
Americans and minority people, she became a lifetime mem-
ber of the NAACP.
On Saturday, December 5, 2015, after a brief illness, Genova-
was called home to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted family: Curtis
C. Bomar (Bernadette), Sandra Bomar-Moody, Robert L.
Bomar (Viola), Wanda Bomar-Johnson, Melvin C. Bomar
(Cynthia), Theodore C. Bomar, fifteen grandchildren, eight-
een great-grandchildren, five great, great-grandchildren, a
special cousin, Timothius Davis, and a host of other relatives
