Obituary

GEORGE BRUCE BAKER, known to most as Bruce, was born
on January 22, 1957 in Baltimore, MD to the late Elisha Baker Jr.
and Mildred Jean Baker. After a lengthy illness, he departed this life
in the early morning hours on May I, 2016.

Bruce was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System.
He attended Frederick Douglass High School. Early in his life, Bruce
was baptized at Whitestone Baptist Church where he accepted
Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He enlisted in the United States Army where he served four years.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, he then found
employment with a number of companies including Bethlehem
Steel, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Fort Meade,
Heidtman Steel and Good Samaritan Hospital, just to name a few.

In 1996, Bruce was bit by the love bug and started to date Wendy
Gray-Hicks. On September 5, 1998, Bruce married his lovely wife,
Wendy and became a wonderful dad to her two children, Thomas
Hicks, Jr. and Llauryn Hicks. He raised and loved them as his
own. Bruce and Wendy spent seventeen blissful years together.

Bruce loved sports to the utmost. He was truly a "Mr. ESPN".
He enjoyed playing cards with his boys, watching the football or
basketball game, playing Pinochle, and talking a lot of junk with
the fellas.

Bruce leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Wendy; two
sons, Terrence Baker and Thomas Hicks, [r.; daughter, Llauryn
Hicks; brother, Jonathan Baker; mother-in-law, Lucille Burrell; two
nephews, Jerry Reaves and James Michael Baker, [r.; niece, Jeanna
Lynn Baker; aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and a host
of other family and friends.

Preceding him in death are: his father, Elisha Baker, [r.; his mother,
Mildred Jean Baker; his brother, James Michael Baker; and his
sister, Jewel Richburg. Viewing Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home Wednesday, May 11, 2016 04:00 PM - 08:00 PM Email Details 2140 N. Fulton Ave
