Obituary

George Harrington affectionately known as "Big George", son of the late Wiley Harrington and Bertha Harrington, was born on April 29, 1938. He departed this life on January 9, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

He received his education at Garner High School located in Garner, North Carolina. George joined the United States Army where he served from 1960-1963 as a cook. After his release he began employment at the General Factory in Baltimore, MD.

He married the former Ola Mae Betts on May 29, 1971.

To know George was to love him. George made numerous friends wher- ever he went. George will be sincerely missed by all who knew him. He was a friend to many and a devoted family man. He enjoyed listening to talk radio and reading his newspaper.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Ola Mae Harrington; one son, George Harrington Jr.; two daughters, Salika Harrington and Tiffany Clay; one son-in-law, Lee Clay; three grandchildren, Artrell, Aiyanna, and Ashaud Clay; one sister, Julia Avery; one brother, Henry Harrington; mother-in- law, Martha Betts; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Harrington and Willie Mae Harrington. As well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester Harrington, Wiley Harrington, James Harrington, and Nathaniel Harrington.
