George Edward Jones, son of the late Mary and David Jones, was born on April 28, 1939 in Alexander, Virginia. He departed this life on December 7, 2008 after a lenghty illness. He received his education at Booker T. Washington High School. He also had a master in marketing. Ad A child he attended Wayland Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. William W. Payne where he sang with the Junior and Youth Adult Choir. He was an active member in the boy scouts. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. At his death he was an elder at Greater Grace World Outreach under Pastor Dan Munnill. He married the former Betty Hood and out of this union two sons were born, Jonathan and Brian. His second marriage was to Vanessa Holmes and out of that union were two sons and two daughters, Rudi, Amani, Alkire, and Temea. George made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He was a true friend and devoted family man. He leaves to mourn: His sons, Jonarhan, Brian, Rudi, and Amani, his daughters Alkire and Temea; four grandchildren, Darius, Brandon, Tylin and Mariah; one sister, Florence Burke of New Castle, Delaware, three aunts, Lillian Martin, Rosa Lee Hennigan, and Francic James of Baltimore; one brother-in-law, Raymond Burke of New Castle, Delaware, two daughter-in-law, Renee Campbell-Jones and Renee Helen Jones, nieces, newphews and a host of other relatives and friends.
