Obituary

George “Phil” Phillips, Jr., son of the late George and Lorraine Phillips, Sr., was born on May 31, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland. He peacefully passed away on February 8, 2026, at the age of 75. He attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Phil, as he was affectionately known, was the cornerstone of our family, providing endless love, wisdom, and laughter to everyone he met. He worked for the Department of Public Works as a foreman, for over 30 plus years.

From an early age, George showed natural grace and unwavering strength. He loved listening to music. At any given time, you could catch him blasting The Temptations, Tupac, KRS-One, or DMX in his car. He was a huge fan of martial arts and kung fu movies. He also frequented the Northeast Market, where he was well known by many of the stall owners. He had a great love for children and would often write his own poetry, which we often never understood but it made sense (inside joke).

George is survived by his beloved children, George II and Ronald Phillips; his sisters, Victoria Hansboro (preceded in death by her husband, John), Denise Richards (William), and Lisa Phillips; his grandchildren, George Phillips IV (who preceded him in death), Ronald Phillips, Michael Talley, and Nevaeh Phillips; his great-grandchildren, Riley Talley, Karter Phillips, and Amir Talley; and his nieces and nephews, John Hansboro (Shalonda), Victor Hansboro (Sharonda), Lakeisha Richards, William Richards IV, and Brittney Boyd (Jaquan), who brought him immense joy. He was previously married to the former mother of his children, Judy Phillips. George also cherished his relationship with his special friend, Kimberly Bradley. He was deeply loved by his extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
