He was the oldestof their six children: Stephanie Simmons Kaki Simpson, Jolinna Simpson,VanJimmy Brooks, and Calvin Brooks.
George was always the class clown and had a love for basketball, he was so cold on the court he was given the nickname "Ice Cream". George was educated in Brooklyn, New York where he played Basketball. George also began coaching youth league basketball teams. George graduated Eagle HighSchool.
George was so good at basketball that the New York Knicks wanted to sign him to a contract but unfortunately, he joined the Army a month prior. He met his first wife Patricia Ann Flowers shortly after graduating High School. They dated and eventually they got married May27,1978. Patricia and George had two sons George Simpson, Jr and Jamaal Rashad Simpson. He joined the military later that year. While in the Army he played basketball for every base he was stationed inuntil his honorable dischargefor the second time.

George was big on educating and bettering yourself. He would encourage others to "never sell yourself short".Heled by example by consistently working and accumulating several certifications and a degree in Social Work. He is known for his horrible jokes and infectious laughs which would make you laugh at the joke in the end. He was always there for others sometimes giving his all. His nieces and nephews and others knew "push comes to shove" Uncle George would help. George fell on hard times, but like the fighter he was, heovercame his demons.
