Obituary

Georgia Barnes Allison Alston, daughter of the late Clyde David Barnes Sr. and Mattie Lee Barnes, was born on February 22, 1954 in Johnston County, Carolina. She departed this life on November 9,2014 at Future Care Nursing Rehabilitation in Baltimore, Maryland. Georgia better known as Faye to family and friends grew up in Baltimore, Mary- land. She graduated from Carver Vocational -Technical High School wh,yre she took up sewing, then attended Baltimore City Community College. Faye later went on to cosmetology school where she learned how to do hair, make-up and nails; skills she passed on to both daughters, Monique and Tamika who preceded her in death in 2012, and two granddaughters, Shywra who is a licensed cosmetologist and student at Salisbury State University and Brianna who is a traveling make-up artist. While pursuing a career in hair Faye worked as a stylist and manager of several beauty salons. In 1982 she decided to start her own hair business at home called "Georgia's Touch". The following year she was asked to do a hair weave commercial that aired on TV in the early nineties. In 1985 Faye worked as a private duty nurse aide in addition to juggling her career in hair and family life she had other interest. Coming from a large family of fifteen, nine boys and six girls Faye was a excellent cook. Well known for her homemade macaroni and cheese, potato salad and famous sweet potato pies. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends with good food, music and whole some recreation. Like her mother, "Mattie" Faye had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, but was very modest about her talent. However she passes this musical gift on to her son Eric Allison Jr. who also enjoys singing. In 2009 Faye was reinstated as a member of one of Jehovah's Witness, a happy time in her life. She attended spiritual meetings at Owings Mills Congregational Kingdom Hall and often spoke about her faith to others.
