Obituary

GERALD JONES, born on June 29, 1936 to the late Alice and Austin Jones Sr. in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on January 6, 2013. Gerald was born the seventh of nine children, the late Dr. Charles James, the late Martha Terry Aur, the late Nelson Jones, the late Austin Jones, the late Randolph Jones, the late Mildred Starks, the late Yvonne Brock and survived by Sylvester Jones Florence. Gerald received his education at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly and received an honorable discharge. After being discharged he completed his employment as a Stationary Engineer at the University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland until his retirement. Early in life, Gerald accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and worshipped at St. Francis Catholic Church. Gerald had a very happy spirit, always joking and uplifting other's spirits. He believed in living life to the fullest. He enjoyed outings, but you had to let him know ahead of time to prepare his sharp outfits. He loved to dress and believed in the importance of proper presentation. He loved family gatherings and crab feast. His favorite pastime was listening to music and watching movies. Although he is no longer physically smiling at us, he will celestially smile always upon us! He was the loving father of Pearl Harrison Clayburton, Geraldine B. Jones and the late Keith Jones. He also proudly raised two stepchildren, Karen Holloway and Freddie Perry. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: four grandchildren, Ditasha Bell, grandson, Daryl Bell, Jr. preceded him in death, Eon Harrison, Chandline Jones and Davon Jones; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Mattie, Florence, Berniece, Margaret Jones and Rev. Geraldine Stancil-James; one brother-in-law, Shelton L. Brock Sr.; a dear friend, Pamela Richardson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
