Geraldine Cecilia Smith, was born on December 18, 1952 to the late Horace and Lucille Jones. God called her home on Sunday, July 5, 2015. She was the seventh child of ten children. Her brothers, William McKinley, Mark Keith, John Edward, James Horace and Tyrone preceded her in death. Geraldine attended Robert Brown Elliott Elem PS 104, Garrison Jr. High and she graduated from Western HS, where she was on the choir. She later received an Associate Degree from BCC. Geraldine was born in the church and accepted the Lord as her savior at an early age and was later called to the ministry. She joined the church choir and was elected as President for many years. She was active in other church activities also. She was a fighter literally, spiritually and would fight you physically. Her brothers, Melvin and Tyrone often unwillingly became the recipients of her fighting. She was feisty like her red hair and earned the nick name "Redtop". She had a good sense of humor, she loved to learn new things, read books and do crossword puzzles. In 1984, Geraldine was married to Donald Smith and together raised Demetria. Her personality and humor didn't change after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. When asked ... How are you feeling? She would respond "with my hands". Throughout her life she never complained about the pain she felt, instead she kept a smile and a joke. She showed tenacity and became an example of encouragement to others. While enduring many stages of MS, being hospitalized, the nursing home and finally death, she truly epitomized the scripture, I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race and kept the faith. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Demetria Smith-Baker; her son-in-law, Michael Baker, Jr.; her beloved grandchildren, Michayl III and Michayla; her two brothers, Earnest (Delores), Melvin (Michelle) Jones of Baltimore, MD; her two sisters, Chloe Jones of York, PA and Karen Jones English of Wheeling, IL; a devoted niece, Kayla Nelson of York, PA; her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends and her church family. She will be missed dearly. Viewing Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home
