Geraldine Hicks Tyler, made her grand entrance into the Hicks Family on April 1, 1926 in Brunswick County, Virginia. She was born to the late Daniel W. and Nannie Blackwell Hicks. She was the fifth child of six siblings all of whom have preceded her in death.
There she attended the public schools until the family moved to Turner Station, Maryland. Her childhood memories shaped her into the woman she would later become.
Upon graduation from high school, Geraldine attended the Balti- more Institute of Nursing and became a health care worker at Bayview Medical Center previously known as City Hospital. That was the beginning of her work experience. She also attended classes at Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland for further training in the nursing field. Once certified, she became a Surgical Nursing Technician working in the operating room, a position she held for over 30 years.
On November 21, 1947, Geraldine and Lanzie A. Tyler were united in matrimony, and to this union, there were two children - Lynnette and Danita.
Geraldine accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age was baptized and became a member of the First Apostolic Faith Gospel Tabernacle Church, which was known then as Gospel Tabernacle Church under the leadership of Bishop George H. Levant. She remained there until she moved to Baltimore City. Highway Christian Church welcomed her with open arms. She had a passion for singing God's praises and was a member of the Mass Choir, Senior Choir, and the Rescue Choir to name a few. Sunday School was another one of her favorites. She was also a member of the Trustee Board and served faithfully as its secretary until declining health challenges surfaced.
On Saturday, December 30,2017 the Lord whispered to Geraldine "Come Home, your assignment is complete. " She leaves a legacy of love for her daughters, Lynnette Demby and Danita Tyler; grandchildren Danielle, Courtney, Briana, and Jajuan; great grand children Garrett and Antonio; and many other dear relatives and friends.
