Gertrude Elizabeth Washington-Hunbert, Gertrude Jeri e. Washington, born on January 7, 1941 to the late John L. and Helena Washington. She departed this earthly life on Monday, May 14, 2012 after a short illness at Howard county General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland. She was born and raised in Howard County, Maryland, where she attended Harriet Tubman High School. She later moved to Baltimore City where she worked as a nurse for many years caring for disable children at Mt. Washington and Rosewood State Hospital. She later worked as an Executive Assistant Housekeeper at the Sheraton International Hotel at BWI from which she retired in 1998. She was the loving wife to the late Wilton Humbert, known to all of her family and friends as "Jeri." She was first and foremost a great mother. She lived her life as a caregiver, not only to her children but to the many family and friends that were in need of food and shelter. Jeri never hesitated to open her home and heart, no matter what. Jeri was the eldest of seven and was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry E., Earl J. and Joseph N. Washington; two daughters, Tanya A. and Shari L. Washington; and one son, Gary T. Washington. She leaves to cherish her memory; a loving and devoted daughter, Chaney B. Washington; one grandson, Christian G. Graham, Sr.; two granddaughters, Christie S. Melton and Shanoka Washington; three brothers, John L. Jr., Donald E. and Tyrone C. Washington; seven great-grandchildren, christian g. Jr., TyRayah S., Donyah L., Monyah d., Neveh Rosie c., and Anna L. Graham and Tye s. Melton; her loving nephews, Larry S.Jr., and John L. Washington; niece, Tyra v. and Latrell s. Washington; and very special cousins, Sonia Cromartie and Jose Gee; with a host of family and friends.
