Gilbert Maurice McClendon, beloved sonofJonah McClendon and Lucy McClendon was born November 24, 1945.
He received his formal education in Baltimore City's Public School System. Affectionately known as "Roach" and "Reese", Gilbert worked as a construction worker at Spinello Water Company where he later retired. He received numerous achievement awards throughout his professional career. Prior to his construction career he worked as a baker for Praeses and Schmidt Bakery. Gilbert also aspired to be aninventor, coming up with a patent for a dual function walking stick.
We will always remember him as an approachable, jovial, and devoted man.Ifyou ever met Gilbert, you would always leave his presence laughing becauseofhis love for jokes and storytelling. His hobbies included going to the casino, fishing, and road trips to Washington, DC to visit his favorite Uncle "G" and Aunt Minnie who precededhimindeath. Gilbert also loved to spend time with his bonus grandchildren especially (Josh McCall),wherehe played an instrumental role in their lives. There was no trip too long or any destination too hard to find. He loved his church St. Peters Claver Catholic Church where he was a faithful member and loyal volunteer.
Heleaves to cherish his loving memory: his long term companion, Eva Brown; two nephews, Lloyd Kevin Cooper and DavonBryan;great:nephew, Mama Lucille his self appointed adopted Mom whom he loved dearly. Preceding him in death are his parents, Jonah and LucyMcClendon, sister Elaine Mcclendon, niece Chelly Smith, nephew Todd McClendon and great-nephew Kevin Cooper Gilbert also leavesbehind a hostof other nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
