Time to be Born
Gilda Booker, daughter of the late John Hodges Sr., and Virginia Redman was born on March 14, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was affectionately known as “Bunny” by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Obertina Hodges, brother John “Buck” Hodges, and her husband, Booker T. Macklin.
Time to Plant
Gilda received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She received her GED. Gilda and Booker were married May 08, 2017.
Time to Build
Gilda worked various jobs. She worked at Villa St. Michaels and Harford Gardens as a Supervisor. She was a strong and prudent nurse who truly cared for her patients. She worked as a nurse at the Baltimore City Jail for numerous years. Some other jobs she held were at Clifton T. Perkins, Total HealthCare, Future Care - (Sandtown), Ravenwood Nursing Home and St. Vincent. She was a long-time member of the Hiram Grand Eastern Star Organization, Rose of Z seal, 33- degree Mason, Prince Hall. She accepted Christ at an early age. Early in Christian walk she was a member of House of Prayer for All People. She later became a member of Love of God Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Ruby Ferguson.
Time to Love and Laugh
Gilda “Bunny” Booker-Macklin was the matriarch of the family, and she took her role serious. Bunny loved to travel the world, dress very fashionable, drink her “Mountain Dews”, always encouraged her family to seek higher education. But overall, Bunny loved and supported her family, especially the babies! Bunny loved to attend church to enjoy praise and worship so she could beat her tambourine. Bunny loved people, she knew everyone in the community, and they loved and respected her. Bunny took a motherly liking to Mr. Eric Ritter where she met at Time Organization, Mr. Ritter became Gilda’s primary care provider and assisted with her treatment until her day of rest.
Time to Depart
On March 12, 2026, Gilda peacefully departed this life to her eternal rest. She leaves to honor and cherish life and memories: one son: Daron Booker, two sisters: Johnetta Johnson, Sharon Johnson, and one brother, James Bryant. A host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends.
