Obituary

Gilford Wayman Queen Sr. was born on July 15, 1926 to the late Asa and Matilda Hines Queen of Severn, Md. God looked down on Gilford, in the late night hours of June 14, 2009 and said "well done good and faithful servant" and call him home to glory. Surrounded by his family, he quietly departed his life, following a brief illness. Gilfrord grew up in a loving, religious home with eight siblings and two devoted parents. The family instilled the value of loyalty and sharing the gifts that God has blessed you with. Gilford's early Christian education and religious experience was shaped at the Metropolitan United Methodist Church School. Gilford received his academic education in Annne Arundel County Public Schools; it was there that he met the woman with whom he would spend his life. Gildord married Muriel Brooks on November 1, 1947. from this union, God blessed them with two children, Gilford Jr. and Karen. He was a dedicated husband and father. Gilford served in the United States Air Force. Following his service he worked on ft. Meade. Dually, he built a successful entrepreneurship, owning and operating Queen's Body Shop. In adulthood, he was a member of John Westley and served as the finance Committee chairperson and liturgist dutifully. He faithfully attended church until his health declined. Gilford loved cars, sports and working out in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, building bonds that we will all hold dear foreever. He will always be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind heart and giving ways. Gilford leaves to reflect on his life; a loving wife, Muriel Brooks Queen; devoted children, Gilford Wueen Jr. and Karen Queen Errol; adoring grandchildren, Jessica Queen David and Aren Johnson; brother, Donald Queen; sisters, Phyllis Matthews, Gwendolyn Pindell Francis, Eleanor Tignor Gregory and Jean Goode; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; one aunt; one godchild, Daniel MeKenny; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
