Obituary

GLADYS N A DINE GREEN was born July 1, 1928 in the Mt.

Winans area of Baltimore, MD. to the late George and Avis Green.
Nadine enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by loving parents
and two siblings, Vera Peele and Daniel Green who preceded her in
death.

She received her education in the Baltimore City School System.

After her graduation from Frederick Douglas High in 1947, she later
went on to pursue a course in business. She worked in retail at the
May Company doing office work.

She received her early religious training in the Mt. Winans United
Methodist Church where she served as president of the Methodist
Youth Fellowship and the Young Adult Choir. In 1958 she joined
the John Wesley United Methodist Church were she taught Sunday
school for many years. She attended services regularly until her
health hindered her from doing so.

On September 26, 1954 she married the late Wendell Armstead;
from this union five daughters were born. Nadine was a dedicated
homemaker. Her greatest enjoyment could be seen as she took care
of her family. In their formative years you would find her working
diligently with the neighborhood girls creating young girls clubs'
such as the Bluebirds and the Chatterboxes. There they would
participate in activities such as art and crafts and took trips to visit
seniors in local nursing homes. Affectionately called "Nanny" it
would not be unusual for Nadine to be involved in babysitting her
grandchildren as well as kids in the community. Her love for helping
children learn and grow were felt by all who knew her well.

Nadine loved to sew and made a lot of her clothes as well as
her daughter's clothes. She also enjoyed spending time reading and
putting puzzles together. Because of her love for birds she was an
avid bird watcher and feeder.

She leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Fern Madden,
Crystal Hill (Walter), Lisa Macer (Samuel), Valerie Gardner
(William) and Gina Armstead; six grandchildren, Nicole Madden,
Dane, Megan, and Lea Wright, Jessica and Justin Macer; four great
grandchildren; Dane, Tiyonna, and Elijah Wright and Law
