IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria E.
Thomas
October 3, 1948 – July 30, 2016
God called our heavenly angel GLORIA ELIZABETH THOMAS from labor to reward on Saturday July 30,2016. Gloria was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 3, 1948 to the late Richard and Helen Hunt.
Gloria attended the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1966. After graduation, she attended a business school where she learned her clerical skills. Gloria was married to Larry Thomas, Sr. who preceded her in death.
Gloria was one of the original forty founding members of Simmons Memorial Baptist Church as a youth. She was baptized at Simmons Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William King. Gloria regularly attended all the church services, including Baptist Training Union with her mother and brother. She was involved in many ministries. Gloria was a faithful member of the Junior Usher Board, the Intermediate Choir, Sanctuary Choir and Junior Missionary Society. She used her talents and worked with the Church Newsletter "Simmons Speaks".
Gloria was a long time employee with the Social Security Administration. She was a Benefits Claims Examiner and a Benefits Earnings Technician for over forty years. Gloria has received many recognitions, citations and awards at Social Security for her numerous accomplishments.
Gloria had her own sense of style and fashion. She was very sociable and full of life. For every word she spoke, she had a smile attached to it. Gloria was a warm and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend. If she had just met you for the first time, you would have thought you had known each other for years. By theway, she fulfilled one of her grandmother duties by introducing her oldest grandchildren: KiAnna, Jazmyne and Taylor to rides on the metro bus and "Baltimore subway". She always made special trips to Lexington Market for her
grandchildren. Truly, Gloria Thomas was one of a kind.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory her children: LaTanya Brooks (Harold), Larry Thomas Jr. (Jenelle), stepson Kenneth Thomas (Terria); brothers Ronald and Richard Hunt; sister Jennifer Hunt; mother-in-law Carolyn Robinson; grandchildren: KiAnna, Jazmyne, Harold (III), Taylor, Indya, Logan and Sydney; devoted friend and a host of relatives and friends.
