in Rocky Mt., North Carolina. God in His mighty wisdom thought it time to call His child home to a place where death

Educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, Gordon graduated from Frederick Douglass High School
.
He then gained employment at the Coca Cola Company in Baltimore, Maryland. After working
s

al years for Coca Cola, in
1951
he de

ided to join the United States Marine Corp. While in the Marines he earned the rank of s
e
rgeant and rec
e
ived a honorable discharge in 1954
.
On May
7, 1959,
Gordon married the late Edith Green, out of this union thre
e
children were born, Gordon
,
Michael and Denis
e,
and a
s
tep-son Char
l
es Jr. Gordon's son Sherman also gained three step-brothers and a step

sister
.
