Grace Elizabeth Turner was born on March 11, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York to Fortune and Sarah Deas. She was the youngest sister to Vivien and Helen both who preceded her in death. Grace was active in Brooklyn's Bridge Street A.M.E. Church. It was there that she met and married Cyril Lyons in 1942. Of this union three children were born; Robert, Gary and Judith. Early in her marriage Grace moved to Manhattan and became a member of Salem Methodist Church and served faithfully in Class #3. Grace met widower Leonard Turner at Salem Methodist Church and remarried in 1976. They relocated to Columbia, Maryland where they found a new church home becoming members of First Baptist Church of Guilford in 1977. Grace assisted with the Bright Side Newsletter, Vacation Bible School and various other Church activities. She was a faithful and active member in the Church until she became unable to attend due to failing health. Grace loved living in Columbia, Maryland. She was a member of the Howard County Commission on Aging, The Howard County Public School System Volunteer Program Service and the Retired Senior volunteer Program. She also worked with the Columbia Association arranging many exciting trips for senior citizens. Grace sang with the Columbia Choral Group. In her leisure time, Grace liked to do needlepoint, latch hooking, finding and cooking new recipes, playing bingo and pokeno. She loved to travel visiting family and friends. Grace departed this life on Thursday, April 19, 2012. Grace was a loving wife to Leonard who preceded her in death i 1999; loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and auntie. She leaves to mourn her passing ; sons, Robert and Gary; stepson, Cyril; daughter, Judith; grandchildren, Daniel, Pamela, Denise and Rhonda; great-grandchildren Steve, Terrell, Rakiya, Justin and Jasmine; great-great-grandchild, Kyra; daughter-in-law, Pearl Lyons and son-in-law, James Evans; nieces, nephews; and a host of friends and church members.
