IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gregory
Pressley
January 16, 1960 – January 13, 2017
Gregory Pressley
was born on Saturday, January 16, 1960 as the fourth of ten children (five
sons and five daughters) to the late Bertha Lee Pressley and the late Leroy Pressley. He
departed this earth on Friday, January 13, 2017.
Gregory attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Walbrook Senior High
School Class of 1978. As a boy, he enjoyed playing all sports, motorcycles, getting good math
scores, and the
Earth, Wind and Fire
Band. Gregory earned many trophies for baseball,
basketball and other team sports throughout his years in school. Greg worked alongside his
father in his construction business as a young man. He was introduced to the brick-laying and
masonry career and grew a passion for building and repairing. Later, he established and
operated Progressive Construction Company LLC. Greg also worked for Ryland Homes for many
years as a licensed contractor.
Later in life, Greg became a Foster Care parent. He had a heart of gold and would give you the
shirt off his back. Gregory was very protective over his family and loved his parents to the end.
Gregory built and replaced the steps to the family house and helped to erect the annex to the
church the family attended. His handiwork can be seen throughout the City of Baltimore as he
laid many foundations to buildings and built barbeque pits for private home owners.
Gregory was known for his hard work, sharp GQ dress style, ability to communicate with words
he created (such as duceskees for a $20.00 bill, and "apple scrapple" for friend). Because of the
size of his heart, everybody was a "main apple-scrapple" in his eyes. Greg always kept a smile
on his face and a positive attitude about life. Many young people in the community called him
"Uncle Greg" and everyone else referred to him as Mr. Pressley because of his sharp business
mind. Most important, he volunteered his time to serve on the Board of Advisors for the Boys
Scouts.
People who knew him best will remember his outstanding cooking ability, his love for sports
and a unique sense of humor. He was totally dedicated to family and he was a true friend who
was did not judge people.
Gregory Pressley accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and the Right Hand of Fellowship
at Southern Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Hickman in Baltimore, Maryland.
There is no one who can say a bad word about this silent speaking giant with a giving heart. His
warm and friendly smile will be sorely missed.
Gregory leaves to cherish his memory, six siblings who are Bernard Pressley, Annette Pressley
and Jeanette Pressley-Hampton (twins); Anthony Pressley, Bernette Pressley-Carthy, and
Sharon Linette Pressley; one son, Tyrell Powell. He was proceeded in death by his loving
parents, two brothers, Ernest and Ronald and one sister, Linda. Gregory leaves two brothers in
law, Randolph Hampton and Errol Carthy; five nieces, 9 nephews, great nieces and great
nephews, 5 aunts and 4 uncles and a companion name Dell Wilson, and a host of cousins and
friends.
