Gwendolyn Ellen Mack, daughter of the late Hannah Ellen Pope and James Dorsey, was born on October 8, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland. Gwendolyn was united in Holy Matrimony for over fifty years to her late husband Nathaniel Mack Sr. who preceded her in death. Gwendolyn was called to eternal rest on September18, 2021 after a sudden illness. Gwendolyn who was known to her family and friends as "Sweet Pea", was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She worked for many years as a hairstylist at Mr. Fritz Hair Salon. Later, she received her Nursing Certification which allowed her to provide home care services. Gwendolyn was an exceptional cook. She is known for her three course Sunday dinners which she prepared for her family to enjoy when they returned home from church. She continued this tradition for many years. Gwendolyn loved and was an avid U.S. and world traveler. She visited places like Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, Brazil, Bahamas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Aruba, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii just to name a few. She was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church, under Dr. Harold A. Carter Sr., for years alongside her late husband Nathaniel Mack Sr. In 1998 she moved from her family home in Sandtown-Winchester to Owings Mills, Maryland, where she became a member of Emmaus Missionary Baptist Church, under Pastor W. David McClung, II. Gwendolyn is survived by her 3 children, Linda Minor (late husband Ronald), Kassandra and her husband Dickey Ford, Nathaniel and his wife Margaret Mack Jr. of San Antonio,Texas (Roselee Mack and Patricia Smith preceded her in death); eleven grandchildren, Alfred Griffin, James Dwayne Smith (wife Joann), Stacey Smith, Eric Herbert, Andrae Henderson, Aaron Henderson, Derrell Washington, Nathaniel Mack III (wife Jessi), Jeremiah Mack, Moriah Mack, and Nehemiah Mack (Anthony Griffin preceded her in death);numerous great-grandchildren, and great great- grandchildren; half siblings, Mammie Easton, Carolyn Morgan, Jimmy Dorsey, Lawrence Dorsey, and Elizabeth Dorsey (Edward Dorsey preceded her in death);and a host of other relatives and friends.
