IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harl N.
Baker, Jr.
September 26, 1950 – November 24, 2018
Harl Baker, Jr. was born to the late Harl and Sophie Baker on
September 26, 1950. Harl, 68 years of age, passed, Saturday
November 24, 2018 in the comfort of his home.
He leaves his wife of21 years Dianne Baker; stepfather Daniel
Lyles; son Harl Baker III ( wife Tonya); step-children, Theodore
McLaughlin (wife Renae), Steven McLaughlin (wife Tonya), and
Stacey McLaughlin; siblings Connie (Craig) Kendrick, Rodney
(Betty) Meredith, Stanley (Barbara) Blackwell; in-laws, Brenda
Corbett, Ear! (Denise) Davis, Wayne (Sandra) Davis, Anthony
Davis, and Tamara Davis; seven grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Born and raised in West Baltimore, Harl spent the majority
of his life in Baltimore City. After attending Baltimore City schools,
he decided to join the Job Corps to learn a trade. Harl wasn't
satisfied with just learning a trade and decided to further himself
by joining the United States Army. Harl and Dianne met while
attending Bible Study classes at New Psalmist Baptist Church.
They would nurture and develop their relationship while
attending services at Charity Community Church of God. Harl
loved studying the Word of God. Harl and Dianne were married
July 26, 1997 at Charity Community Church of God. After wedding
Dianne, Harl decided on a career in roofing. Harl took pride in his
career and maintained it until being injured on the job. His injury
caused him to give up the career that he loved so much.
Harl had a passion for walking and sightseeing. There was nothing
he enjoyed more than walking the city streets: taking in all of the
uniqueness that Baltimore City had to offer -- all the while visiting
with various vendors, purchasing his favorite snacks (anything sweet)
along the way. He loved giving lessons to those of us interested in
learning the game of chess.
