Obituary

HAROLD NATHANIEL MARTIN, SR. was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 12, 1945 to the late Swanson and Sarah Martin. Harold was their first born. Harold was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was baptized at Memorial Baptist Church during his childhood. Harold started his own business as a concrete and cement finisher and also worked for the American Smelting Company and Baltimore County Public Schools. He was known for his professionalism in cement work. Harold was known for his outgoing personality, especially in his neighborhood, as a great conversationalist. He enjoyed gardening and listening to the oldies and dancing with his wife of fifty-two years, Reena. He loved sweets, especially cookies. In 1962 Harold married Reena and had four beautiful children. When you saw Reena, Harold was not far behind. Harold loved his wife and family and always wanted the best for them. Harold loved to tease, laugh, talk and play tricks on the phone with his family, disguising his voice. In 2007 Harold suffered a traumatic head injury that caused his physical and mental decline. He struggled until the morning of January 15, 2014, the fight had ended. God saw fit to call him home. Harold is preceded in death by his son, Howard; grandson, Harold III; his mother and father, Swanson and Sarah Martin; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Gladys Horsey. Harold leaves to mourn: his loving and heartbroken wife, Reena: his children, Harold, Rennard and Demetries; his grandchildren, Ivin, Emily, Sean, India, Ashley, Raven, Dwight, Danita, Rennard [r., Caprice and Little Craig; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends who he loved and held affectionately.
