Mrs. Hattie Colbert Conwell was born on June 5, 1930 in Hopewell, Virginia. At an early age her parents, the late Helen Colbert Pryor and Jacob Colbert moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Hattie received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Frederick Douglas High School. Hattie came to know Christ at an early age and her love for her fellow man was felt by everyone who came in contact with her. For many years, Hattie was gainfully employed in her family's restraut as a cook extraordinaire. Later, she became the office manager, secretary and all purpose delight worker for Conwell & Sons Heating and Air Conditioning Services, the company of her late husband Elwood Rothchild Conwell. In 1975, she married the infinite love of her life, Elwood R. Conell. They were inseparable for thirty-nine years. They enjoyed each other's company as well as entertaining others. their home was a gathering place for family and friends. A visit to Hattie and Elwood's was a guaranteed culinary experience. their home was blessed with God's love and joy. No one could leave without a sense of love, encouragement and generosity. Hattie and Elwood were totally devoted to each other and their devotion spawned sharing hobbies such as fishing, flea market shopping and traveling. Their son Raymond, preceded her in death. Hattie leaves to mourn her loss; her devoted sister, Mrs. Bertha Pryor Woods of Baltimore, Maryland; two sons Elwood Levi Hattie of charlotte, North Carolina and Andrew Manning Marilyn of Baltimore, Maryland; daughter, Pamela Alease of smithville, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Nikki Vazquez Ronald, Darryl, Tess-Ella kelly, Erica Russell and Adriane; three great-grandsons, Jordan, Christopher andRJ Ronald Jr.; great-granddaughter Madison, niece, Crystal Burnette; great-nephew, Chris Burnette and great-niece, Tenae Hodge; brother-in-law, George Nora Conwell of rich Square, North Carolina; and many loving relatives, concerned friends and neighbors.
