Obituary

Hattie Olivia Hursey was born Hattie Jeffries November 20,
1929 to the late Henry Arthur Jeffries and Maud Duprey. She departed
this life Saturday, February 25, 2017 due to a long lengthy illness.

Hattie Hursey was one of 11 children and received her education in the
Baltimore City Public School System.

As a young woman, Hattie met and married the late William Geater and
from this union there were eight children.

Hattie was a house wife and a compassionate and caring person. She
loved her children as well as others. In addition, she loved her animals,
westerns, and life itself. She loved visiting her sisters from time to time
just to cut up and catch up. Hattie enjoyed listening to gospel music and
kept her bible right beside her bed.

Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, William Geater Sr.; son,
William Geater Jr. and two daughters, Marcella Geater and Theresa
Geater.

Hattie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves
to cherish her memory: two daughters, Phyllis Dodd and Antoinette
Handy; son-in-law, Ricardo Handy; three sons, Russell Geater, Alonzo
Geater, and Glen Geater; two daughters-in-laws, Ranie Geater, and
Deborah Geater; 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; two sisters,
Pearl Stell and Hilda Miller, and a host of nephews, nieces, and other
relatives and friends.
